Trudi Canavan

bestselling author of The Black Magician Trilogy

The Magician’s Apprentice Extract is Up!

Here it is! The first chapter.

The book’s release date is still February, and the Australian Orbit team are organising some events in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. I’ll post dates, times and places when I know the details.

For now, happy whatever-you-celebrate-at-this-time-of-year!

    @those before me – how about pre-ordering at amazon? -> http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magicians-Apprentice-Trudi-Canavan/dp/1841495972/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1230545812&sr=8-3
I did – well, at my ‘local’ amazon, but amazon.

  3. @ Simon and Ali
… Or you’ll be forced to order it and pay more for the shipping than for the actual book…
I know I’ll have to do that… (again). Why do my favourite writers like to live on the other side of the world? …
    It’s worth it though… *grin*

  4. I can’t help but agree with the writer of comment 3!!! I hope The Magician’s Apprentice is coming out in the UK in February because I just can’t wait!!!!!

  5. Thanks for picking those up for me. All fixed!

  6. Ugh that is at once both revolting and compellingly intriguing. I get that nasty squeamish feeling like watching operations on TV but at the same time can’t stop reading 🙂
What a great idea for an opening. You mention a February release will we in the UK get it then as well, because i for one can’t wait after that teaser?
    Regards,
    Simon

  7. Tessia’s father frowned, then turned to beckon to her. Grabbing his bag and the burner, she hurried after him into the daylight. One of the farmer’s older sons was waiting by the horse and cart provided by Lord Dakon for her father to use when visiting patients 6 748O_tx.qxd:748O 29/10/08 13:40 Page 6 outside the village, and he quickly rose and removed a feedbag from the old mare’s head. Tessia’s father nodded his thanks then took his bag from Tessia and stowed it in the back of the cart.
Not sure the code’s supposed to be in there Trudi 😉
But! I love the first chapter. Can’t wait to read the rest!

  8. There’s a slight mistake in the extract – just before halfway down, in the middle of a paragraph, is what looks like some metadata from the source it was copied from which includes the text “Page 6”.
A bit after that there also seems to be at least one missing line break between some pieces of dialogue.
Just thought I’d let you know. In many ways, posting such an extract is a cruel thing to do; I’ve just re-read the Black Magician trilogy and now I’m really looking forward to Magician’s Apprentice.
