Tour Events Schedule – UK, Ireland

What did I find in my inbox this morning but an email from my lovely, hard-working publicity gal at Orbit containing details for the first half of my tour. So, as promised, I’ve listed the events below:

Forbidden Planet launch event
6-7pm Thursday 5th May
Forbidden Planet Megastore, London

With the following, check with the stores for the location of the event. They may not be at the bookstore.

Friday 6th May – 6pm Eason & Son Bookstore, Dublin
Monday 9th May – 7-9pm, Waterstones Woking
Tuesday 10th May – 4pm, Waterstones Twinterview
Wednesday 11th May – 3:30pm, Waterstones Bury St. Edmunds
– 6:30pm, SFF evening, Heffers, Cambridge
Thursday 12th May – 7-8:30pm, Alt Fiction/Lincoln Festival event, Lincoln College
Friday 13th May – 7-8pm, Waterstones Manchester Deansgate
(For Polish tour events, see new post.)
Tuesday 17th May – 7pm, Waterstones Guildford
Wednesday 18th May – 2pm, Waterstones Romford
– 6:30pm, Waterstones Basildon
Thursday 19th May – 7pm, Waterstones Nottingham
Friday 20th May – 7pm, talking at BSFA meeting

Waterstones has an events page where you can buy tickets here, though at the time of writing this it was only showing four events. I’m guessing that this means the other events are free – but don’t quote me on that! Definitely ring the store and check. Thanks to commenters, I can now tell you that you can’t buy tickets from the website, and that all stores will probably sell tickets. I’d still advise contacting the store to check.

I’ll put the details for the German part of my tour in another post. So far the only public event I’m attending in France is Imaginales – which looks like it’s going to be wonderful!

Let me know if you spot any errors. If there are any changes or additional information I’ll add them here for now, then perhaps do a new post containing all my tour details just before I leave.

  1. Hi Trudi!

I was delighted to hear about your signing in Dublin, but out of the blue I got a job the next day and I was gutted that I would have to miss it ๐Ÿ™

However, Chapters Books have posted on their Facebook page that you’re doing another signing there the next day, May 7th, when I’m free. If this is true then I am once again ecstatically excited! ๐Ÿ˜€ I will ring them to confirm, but I live in hope for now.

Thank you for all your wonderful books! Hope to see you in Dublin soon.

    • Actually, I haven’t heard about this one. My schedule says we have a free day in Dublin after the Eason’s event. But who knows? Maybe I haven’t been told about this one yet!

  6. ๐Ÿ™ Not visiting Birmingham? Sad times, enjoy the UK anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I saw a sign in my local branch of waterstone’s (Bury St Edmunds, England) advertising that you were doing a signing there at 3 pm on the 11th of May. I can’t find any mention of this online, so I wanted to double check if it’s actually happening and also how long you’re likely to be there for – an hour or less and I won’t be able to make it, but I’d love to be able to come.

  8. Hi Trudi,

I’m so excited you are coming over to Ireland I’ve been hoping you’d come for ages! Ah quick question is that the Easons on O’Connell street your going to and also what times will you be there. I’m in the middle of my final exams in college but I will totally take an hour or two to go see you,

    Aoife ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Trudi,I’m glad you finally arrive to Poland!I can’t wait;) Your books are fantastic!Pity that the black magician trilogy ended so sad but such books are the best.I’m waiting for the Rogue.I would like to know if you have the address to which I could send you a letter? I am greeting you;)

  10. I’m so excited you’ll be in Cracow! I must find some friends who would go with me to meet you. I hope I’ll manage. ๐Ÿ˜€
Could you sign your other books?

  11. OH MY! YOUR GOING TO MANCHESTER?! Im so happy now. Me and my dad should be able to make it… really happy now! Thanks Trudi!

    • Gutting. Just spoken to my dad and we cant go because he runs a chip shop and the time and day is coinciding with his work. :'(

  12. I’m organising your evening event at Waterstone’s Guildford on 17th May – we’re getting so excited, thanks for fitting us in! You’ve obviously got a load of fans in the area as the tickets have already started going quickly. It helps that one of our booksellers, David is a HUGE fan!

Thanks for the books and the tour – see you in a month.

    Jess.

  13. Wow. I can’t wait for this! Expect me first in line in Manchester, buzzing with excitement! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you enjoy your tour of the UK Trudi !!!

    Best Wishes,

    Nick

  14. Hi
Could you please tell me if you expect to come to Scotland any time soon – im hoping…..

    Thanks K

  15. Wow. I actually happen to be in Cambridge…

… two weeks before your signing there. What are the odds? ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ll catch you some other time, though!

  16. Could you arrange a signing closer to Derby (England)? All your other dates are too far for me to get to and I must have a signed copy

  17. Delighted to see you are in Eason! (who i work for!) but now i’m torn! I’ve an exam for college that day from 10am until 1pm. Hopefully I dont miss the signing!

  18. I can’t wait for your visit Trudi!! I will try to be at Warsaw Book Fair and Empik! ๐Ÿ™‚

Mateusz, there are two Empik Megastores in Warsaw, but I think it will be in this one near Zlote Tarasy, because it’s the biggest Empik and there are always the meetings with authors etc. Moreover, it’s opposite Palace of Culture and Science, where Warsaw Book Fair will take place, so you won’t get lost ๐Ÿ™‚
BTW Warsaw Book Fair is usually overcrowded.

    xo

  19. I live in Glasgow and unfortunately it’s very expensive and hard to get time off work to head down to England, I’d love to meet you and get a Book or 2 signed. Do you know if you will be in Scotland anytime in the near future, if so I will make sure I’m there.

  20. Mateusz Empik Megastore is also called Empik Junior so ask someone if you’ll have any problems, it’s near Galeria Centrum, close to Zlote Tarasy.

    • Thanks. That will help ๐Ÿ™‚ Has anybody gone to the Warsaw Book Fair? I’m wondering if the crowed there is horrible or not ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Hi!
It’s great to have some further details about your trip. I’ll deffinately be in Crakow for the signing. It’s only two days before my birthday so it’ll be a nice gift to have a book signed by you.
Will you have some more details closer to the event? I’m hoping for an address of the stroes because Empik is a chain and there are several outlets all over Crakow and Warsaw as well.

BTW. Is there any possibility to have two books signed by you? Just as the fellow in the second comment wrote I’d like to buy The Rogue on site and have it signed, plus I also thought about bringing “Whispers of the Mist Children”.

Hope to hear from you soon, and thaks in advance for the answears.
    Cheers!

  22. Ouch! Only one stop in Ireland? /sadface

  23. agh.
Stupid me, stupid, stupid, stupid… I mistook dates! agh. stupid, stupid…

I MUST be there! I MUST meet you!

    and I WILL be there.

  24. what actually happens at the launch event?

    • Well, if it’s anything like launches in Australia, people say nice things about the author and the book, the author thanks everyone, then we all drink free booze, buy the book and get it signed. In the UK? I suspect it’ll be a bit more formal: with a reading and maybe not so much emphasis on the free booze ๐Ÿ™‚

      • A bit more formal?? ๐Ÿ™ I wanted free booze! Well, I’ll have to have a bottle on the way down! We’ll bring you a bottle Trudi! I’ll be buying mine before then sheerly because I can’t wait that long to read it!

      • Heh! She’s going to Ireland – plenty of booze, and us brits aren’t exactly prudish ๐Ÿ˜›

  25. I be in Cracow! I realy happy for that!!

  26. You should come up north! Durham City is beautiful and would inspire you I’m sure, or even York or Newcaslte. We miss out on things like this ๐Ÿ™

    Ruth Ellen

    • I explored the north back in 2005 after Worldcon in Glasgow. It was lovely. We somehow managed to have clear blue skies all day the day we drove through the highlands, though Skye didn’t clear until we were leaving. York was fabulous.

      • Scotland is beautiful, glad you enjoyed it, and York. Looking forward to finding out when you’re in Germany (praying) that it will be when I go there on holiday in July! I love Germany and you should too, Berlin is a fantastic city.

  27. Wohooo! No exams that day…guess who’s going to Dublin!

  28. Just a quick FYI – you can’t actually buy tickets from that Waterstones page listed; if you try and add to the basket, it only adds the book. If you want to buy tickets, you have to ring the specific store and order through them.

  29. Hi

Just to let you know the waterstones link doesnt let you buy tickets, you have to ring (or visit) the store itself, if you click add to basket you get the book not a ticket ๐Ÿ™‚

    Peter

  30. I just thought I’d correct you on the Waterstones events, so others don’t get confused/presume anything.

You can’t buy tickets via the Waterstones website, you have to phone the store/go in to purchase them. The fact that only 4 are currently listed on the Waterstones website usually only means that the other stores haven’t got around to putting up the information yet, so don’t presume you won’t have to pay/buy a ticket. If I were you I’d expect to have to pay around ยฃ3-ยฃ5 to get into the events ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so excited now. I was worried Basildon would be the nearest I could get to, but now there’s Woking that makes things MUCH easier. AND it’s on a Monday. Yaaaay!

    • Thanks for the corrections and info!

    • Haved you managed to confirm and purchase a ticket from woking yet, as I am unable to see it on website and live too far away to go instore as i will be travelling for a while to get there. Hopefully you can help me, and have any tips for going as they would be much appreciated.

      Many thanks, Daisy.

  31. I asked some friends I they could go with me to Warsaw to see you! I hope someone agrees because it is always better to have a company there, in such a big city ๐Ÿ™‚ Although I don’t know where I would go in order to see you. I thought about Warsaw Book Fair because I am not sure where this Empik Megastore is (firstly I though about empik in Zlote Tarasy, but not sure about that).

    • Omg I meant “friends if they could”.
BTW Trudi can you tell me if it’s better to buy the latest novel of yours earlier or I could get it at Warsaw Book Fair (I’ve never gone to a signing so I don’t know). Also is it possible to take another books (especially I’m thinking about your anthology published here, in Poland)?
      Thank you in advance ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hey, where are you from? I will have a group of friends going there from ลรณdลบ. You can go with us if you want ;D

      • What a pity… I live in Olsztyn right now (studying there) and my home town is Makรณw Mazowiecki. As you see ลรณdลบ is quite far from both my “homes” ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Mateusz, when you write “empik megastore warszawa” in google it will find you this place. First I thought that it is in zล‚ote tarasy but I checked it and it’ near zล‚ote tarasy. If you are not from warsaw you should have a map with you or ask someone where is it ๐Ÿ™‚
Trudi, I’m so happy that you will be in warsaw! I don’t know where I should be ( in empik megastore or on warsaw book fair) to get your signature. Can you help me? ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Do you mean what position within the fair or store? I don’t know! Perhaps give them a call and ask?

        • Ok thanks, I think that I will do it ๐Ÿ™‚

        • I have checked it. I think Empik Megastore is on Marszaล‚kowska. In Warsaw. But I’m not sure…
Trudi (it’s not indiscretion?) you should visit us in Wrocล‚aw. Come to us ๐Ÿ˜€ A lot of my friends and I, of course, enjoy you and your books.
          CU.
