Interviews, Interviews, Interviews!

In the lead up to the release of The Traitor Queen and throughout August several lovely interviewers have called or emailed me for a natter about writing, reading, books and more:

Mark O’Bannon interviews me about my writing techniques on the Better Storytelling blog.

Stephen C Ormsby asks me about writing, books, and publishing.

The folks at Galaxy Books blog sent me some good questions, too.

Crisetta MacLeod of Aurealis Express had me reflecting on my past involvement with the magazine as well as my writing process. The interview is published in issue 44 of Aurealis magazine.

Nalini Haynes of Dark Matter fanzine recorded a video interview with me via Skype. We were having a lot of fun so it goes for quite a while and covered a lot of territory. (There’s a bit where I got confused and said ‘carbon tax’ when I meant ‘carbon miles’, for which I blame the Aussie media repeating the ‘carbon tax’ phrase so often that it got stuck in my head.)

Sean Wright interviewed me for his excellent Galactic Chat podcast covering gay characters, sexist attitudes toward fantasy writers and readers in different countries, and pre-release anxiety.

Ian Nichols interviewed me for the West Australian (but I don’t know when it’ll be published or if it will appear online).

Paranormal romance author Nicole Murphy interrogated me for her A Writer’s Habits and A Writer’s Process series of interviews.

Aussie spec fic aficionado and writer Donna Hanson recently drilled me about Beta Reading.

Thanks to everyone for the interviews! I had a lot of fun answering your questions. And the best interviews have benefits for the interviewee as well: a couple of them had me thinking afterwards about subjects that were only just touched upon and at least one led to a small revelation about recent social media developments.

Now that Book Release Month is over, I need to focus on writing, so my blogging will go back to my old once a week schedule. But I have a few exciting announcements coming up. Well, not on the level of ‘I won a major award’ or ‘new book out!’, but they do involve publication of stories I’ve written. As they say… stay tuned.
