I have read all your books and love all of them. I have read the Black Magician trilogy and the Age of Five trilogy several times. Both trilogies are great every time I read them! I have read both the Apprentice books and love both of them.
I have to say you are my favorite author now, having surpassed Isaac Asimov. I am in my 40′s and have read a lot of books and am blown away by your books. I was really surprised by how you created magic in your Black Magician trilogy. Usually, the magic users have to have some sort of ingredients or memorize spells. But your novels focus on the people and their reactions to situations instead of all the mumbo jumbo of ingredients and memorizing spells. I love it!
As a selfish fan, I hope you continue to write new books for each of your trilogy, there are a lot of stories still to be told. It is painful when a series ends and I beg for more, but know that there won’t be any more books in the series. Just as the Dragonlance series had different books aside from the major character’s books, I hope you write books in each of your trilogy’s universe from the different races point of view.
PS. Did you actually setup your website yourself? I read that you broke it while messing with it. Do you also write code for your site?
Dear Trdui
I Love the Black Magician Trilogy.
The New Book of you is just great!
I hope that you will make a lot more books of Sonea and the Guild.
The love stories in your books are very beautiful.
I hope that The Guild of the Black Mage and the other books with Sonea once filmed.
Good Luck with The Rouge
lovely greetings
Benjamin from Switzerland
Hail to the author from Spain!
How good curiosity is. Discovering your first book of the black mage trilogy lost in a shelf of my favorite library made me buy the others the moment I got to another one (special mention: I bought the trilogy for a 20-day trip, and I ended it in five!!). Now I’ve started to read this page, I encourage you to continue writing, and even though the spanish translation wasn’t brilliant, the feelings and emotions you transmitted to us were perfectly clear!
Too sad your other books are not translated to my language, but who cares? I will just read them in english!
Dear Trudi,
the first time I got one of your books into my hands i was 15. This was the first book of your Black Magician Trilogy. I read it and started the second one. Through circumstances I stopped read and now, 2 years later I finally went on with your second book and I have to say the book never left my mind, in the background I always thougt “there is this book you have to read..”
What I want to say is, your books are really amazing they “wow” you and you can t stop thinking of them untill you read them. You have created this Sonea-World and its so magic that I also want to live there and be a magician.
I want to encourage you to go on with writing.
P.S: If someday a film director will be asking you to make a movie, based on your books, please don t let them change any details. The most movies based on books destroyed them (the books).
Best example: Narnia.

Hello,
Im waiting for the second part of the Traitor Spy Trylogy. Is there any news when will it be in book stores in Poland?
Greets from Poland, M
I´ve read all your books!
After I read the first book of the Black Magician trilogy i was really fascinated
and I read in one week the other two books.
I like it very much how you write your books!
Please write farther like this!
Greets from Germany, Andreas.
I have been reading science fiction/fantasy all my life, and have to say that the Balck Magician trilogy is the best triology I have read since Raymond Fiests Riftwar Saga was released several decades ago. Fantastic work. Can’t wait for the Traitor Spy trilogy to be fully released.
Thanks for the great read!
Hi Trudi, just finished the Age of the Five trilogy, having immediately before that, read the Black Magician trilogy. Amazing books, great characters! I have just one observation – would it not be better to (unconventionally, but you’re an Aussie, so that won’t worry you!) have the glossary at the start of the book – that way there’s zero chance of accidentally reading part of the end of the book. I had read the whole of the 1st BM book before even realising the glossary was there. Looking forward to the next set published. DP.
Yo,
I finished the Black Magician trilogy some days ago, and I loved all of the three books. I am planning on reading Age of the five. Thank you for making great worlds and characters that readers can enjoy.
greetings from Germany
Hi
3 weeks ago a freind gave me The black magician and The Age of five trilogys to read, i was totally engrossed from the get go and as you can imagine deeply dissapointed when i finished..:( , Is there any chance the spy trilogy will be available on an e-books?
Totally love your writing ..:)
Hello,
I’m Niklas Kaspareit, i’m 14 years old and i’ve read all of your books. They are fantastic. My friends have read some of your books too and they are really fascinated.
I want to make a book presentation of your book “The Magicians’ Guild”.
So I’ve got some questions:
What was the meaning of “The Magicians Guild”? Did you want to say that poor people can get rich? What inspired you to write this book? Why do you like fantasy so much?
I would be glad to get some answers
I hope you’ll never stop writing!
Greetings from Germany
Dear Trudi,
I’m 13 years old and I come from Wales, Great Britain.
I’ve read all of the Black Magicians Trilogy and the sequel, the Ambassador’s Mission. They are amazing books written by an amazing author. My copies are so battered and worn, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve read them. They are without a doubt my favorite books, the High Lord being the best in my opinion. I’m sure there will be more to come, I just can’t wait for The Rogue to be released.
I cannot thank you enough for all your work, without you I would have sorely missed out on an amazing experience. Reading your books was a joy and a pleasure.
Sincerely thank you,
Caitlin
P.S please don’t feel pressured to reply!
Hello,
I’m big fan of fantasy books and I fallen in love in your stories about Sonea’s advantures. I’m looking forward for more books about her!
Greets from Poland,
Adam
Hi Trudi
all your books are really great. I read all of them. At the moment I am waiting for “The Rouge” to be launched in Germany.
Harry_D
You’re just so greate! I’m reading The Novice for the fourth time! xD
I can’t wait to read The Rogue, i’m in love with Lorkin :p
They all believe Lorkin and Tyvara are going to be a couple, but what about that girl named Gillia… or Anyi?? ^^
Hi,
at first a little: “Sorry” for my English. My last Lesson was many years ago.
A big THX from Germany for your books. They had give me many lucky hours of reading.
I think a book is good, if you have a little tear in your eyes if you arrived the last page and you want to read more. With your books i had many little tears.
OAD
I must confess true laziness, for my acquaintance with your writing comes from idle listening to the audio book versions (and these were borrowed so I had not, at that time, even contributed towards your royalties).
Having greedily listened to the Black Magician Trilogy though, I have now gone out and bought one of the books! I have a horrible feeling that the imbibing of the same may keep me from my end of year accounts and much needed piano practice…
Anyway, your stories are charming and strike a chord. They make me feel fifteen again and stir up a plethora of silly romantic notions. Oh, it does feel rather good though to experience these once more! In addition, the codes of honour sit well with me and I am always delighted to find heroines who do not dissolve into fluffy heaps.
Interestingly enough, as a nurse, I found Sonea’s ignorance of, er, family planning highly amusing. Mind you, I did feel that it was a fitting end to the final book.
Hey Trudi,
i have read most of your books, actually all except the one that takes place after the events of “The Black Magician’s Guild”. And i got to say: I’m so in Love with all the books and the characters, that i can’t even express how much I love them.
I was a little bit sad that the story of Jayan and Tessia doesn’t continue, because i started liking both of them a lot, especially Tessia.
And i’m always wondering about the dimension of your fantasy, because you have written so many books, but they never, really never get boring. Neither short parts not long parts, they were always exciting and i nearly couldn’t get away from them
I like books, where you read he last page, but feel like you could keep on reading the story forever and hoping it would never end. I had that feeling with all your books.
I really admire you and i hope you’ll always keep on writing.
Greetings from a faithful reader from Germany
Hello,
i read the german version of the black magician trilogy and at the moment i am finishing The Ambassador’s Mission.
Your books were the first ones i ever read voluntarily =D. I have to say, they are really really great ! I cant wait for the next one in 2011 and just can hope there will come out more such great books from you in the future.
Yours sincerely
Burak from Germany
Aaaarrrrggghhh!!! I can’t believe I have to wait until May 2011 to read ‘The Rogue’.
I love the history lesson from ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’, I was extremely hard to put it down at night, especially during the war scenes.
Another recommended Australian Author – Kate Forsyth – ‘Witches of Eileanan’ series and ‘Rhiannon’s ride’ series.
Cheers and keep up the awesome work (just get those books out quicker…..
).
Craig.

Hey Trudi,
i have to say that i love the way you write your stories. I own all the books you wrote until today. But it is a itty that i have to read the german translation, because my english is not that good.

I just started to read the firrst of the black magicians trilogy and I just wanted you to know that I am really enjoying the characters and the suspence and I hope that the rest of the trilogy is as good a read. Thank you sherry power usa
Hi Trudi
I just finished The Ambassador’s Mission, and I must say I’m incredibly depressed that I have to wait till May 2011 to read The Rogue.
I really love what you’ve done with the characters in this new trilogy – especially Regin. I always secretly adored Regin, but now he’s just so much more awesome! (I hope that’s not a spoiler, I tried not to give too much away). How the cast of the BMT has developed over the time gap is immensely fascinating too.
I’ve read and re-read the BMT to the point where I had to tape runaway pages back into the books, and I am just so happy that there’s even more coming!
I can’t express my gratitude to you enough for giving me so many hours of enjoyment and escape with your books (that sounds really corny, but I’m so glad there’s an author like you in the world).
Thank you very much,
Mary.
P.S. (is there really no way I can persuade you to reveal who had the third blood gem??)
P.P.S. (I want to try raka)
Simply amazing books. Will contiue to re-read until I die.
I’ve just finished reading The Voice of the Gods and I absolutely LOVED the trilogy. I would love to read more about Mirar and Emerhal and maybe what Auraya does in the future
I’ve also read the Magician trilogy and was also enchanted by it. I’d love to read more about Akkarin too
I’ve been reading fantasy for years and your books are going up on the shelf with all the Weiss and Hickman, Anne McCaffreys and Raymond E. Feists etc. Loved them so much, can’t wait to read your other books!
Thanks and Greetings from Belgium,
Jenny
Just a few words to say keep up the inspired work from a fan from Britain! I’m an avid reader with varied tastes but you’re one of the best author’s around and definitely my best find in science fiction for many years.
Best wishes and thank you for so many happy hours reading,
Craig
Hey Trudi,
I can´t actually wait until May next year and neither for The Traitor Queen until 2012.
Could you please be so kind and accelerate your writing.
Thanks and regards,
Philip Wintersperger
hey!
just to let you know, you have several huge fans in Slovenia (eu) too..
read the age of five books, MA and the first book of the BM.. amazing.. can’t wait to read more..
thanks and many successes in future,
Marko Bartolj, Novo mesto, Slovenia..
I am such a huge fan, it’s not even true!
I just finshed reading “The Ambassador’s Mission” – FINALY – and I just had to come check when another book would be available. I didn’t even read the summary of the story, just the first line or so to see in what “universe” it was situated.
Earlier this year my mother went to France and I asked her to buy “The Black Magician Trilogy” for me in French. She only got the first and third, but she also got “Priestess of the White” for me.
They are the only books that I own that are French, as I am studying the language.
I have only one question: Why do I always have to wait so long for the next book to come out? ;D I will be watching the site and bookstores.
Thank you for the wonderful stories for me to love.
Bought the Black Magician trilogy totally on a whim here in Sweden, and boy was I pleasantly surprised. I loved every second of it.
I was actually convinced I would never find an author who would surpass R.E Feist as my favourite, but in that respect I was wrong.
Picked up Age of the Five as soon as I could, and that too was wicked good.
As far as story decisions, such as the endings go, I totally approve. The Black Magician ending actually sent shivers down my spine when I read it.
Keep telling the stories the way you want them told, and I will keep buying every word you write that reaches Sweden.
Cheers!
/Mikael
Hi!
I’m one of your fans from Germany. I have read all your books with interest and I really like them. I must confess they at times inspire me to produce some fan art. I hope you do not disapprove of that.
I really like your style of writing, especially in English. The German translation is good, but I am of the opinion that a bit of your unique style gets lost in it.
So – that leaves you with a German fan crazy over your English books.
And I really can’t wait to read The Rogue.
There was one thing I noticed – the German cover that is displayed for Voice of the Gods is actually the one for the German translation of Priestess of the White. The German translation of Voice of the Gods has the same cover, and is titled Götter.
Anyway… I hope I didn’t commit any grave grammatical errors in this, thank you for writing such splendid books, I wish you all the best health, luck and inspiration.
With the best regards from Germany!
Debbie
Hi Trudie,
Wow you have a lot of fans all over the world, especially Germany it seems. I have relocated to UK recently from Australia.
I’m into Sci-fi especially ones with magic, I have read David Eddings and Raymond E Feist novels, but I have to say I enjoy your books better.
I really liked how you developed and linked the characters with your stories. I like the BMT the best (can’t wait for The Rogue and The Traitor Queen), but I have to say Age of the Five really got me questioning about existence of God(s) etc.
Anyways thank you for your books, they have kept me entertained for 100+ hours, during train rides to work, night reading and reading while travelling (places like Tasmania and Iceland).
I’m glad that all the sacrifices you put seems to have paid off and were certainly well worth it!
Keep up the good work! One day I hope it works out for you so well that they make a movie out of them!
Jas
Hello,
I came to visit your site 5 minutes after reading Ambasadors mission – its Polish edition.
And one thing I have to say – It is going to be very hard to wait until may (or even later for polish edition) to read the second part.
regards from Poland
Marcin
OMG!! I picked up The Magicians Apprentice a month ago. Read that, LOVED it. It was an Epic Prequel to The Black Magician Trilogy. This is the first time that I’ve ever picked up your books, and I must say that I can’t put them down. I am pretty sure you a now my fave author by far
I finished reading the High Lord at 3am this morning (clocked it in 2 days..).
I love the way you wrote about the magic. No spells or ingredients- healing herbs not included.. Its just fantastic, I was completely blown away. I am now on the hunt for your other trilogy and the new Traitor Spy Trilogy. I can only guess what can happen in that- Can’t Wait.. C’mon Aussie bookshops- hurry up.. I think your books have made my Re-Read List & thats always a plus.
I really enjoyed my stay in Kyralia. The only sad thing is waiting for books 2 & 3 of Traitor Spy Trilogy
I love The Black Magician Trilogy. My friend got me the hint to read this book and I just can say: this book is so magical, so imaginatively- writing, so…I can’t describe it! The last days I were really in Sonea’s world.. This time I should slowly wake up and go back to reality. I’m going to buy the German vision of The Ambassador′s Mission and I’m so fancy of it!!!
Hi Trudi!
I’ve just finished today reading the “Black Magician” trilogy, and I love it! It’s amazing… when I read each page of the books it was like leaving my country and living another life in Kyralia. It was so wonderful!
Maybe, the ending of the book was a little bit… strange? I mean, not strange, but unexpectable, and sooo sad
Why he couldn’t have a chance for being happy? I felt very sad while reading the last pages of the “High Lord”.
But even though, I have a very good feeling about the trilogy and I write you only for asking for more and more and more stories of Kyralia and the Guild, asap! Please, I pray you! haha
Best regards from Spain. Keep on writing!
I have read The Black Magician Trilogy and I’m delighted. The Magicians’ Guild isn’t anything fantastic but The Novice and The High Lord are impressing me. I’m going to read other your books and I think, they’re also super – but I need to check.
Greets from Poland!
PS. How could you kill [spoiler removed]? He was extra!
PS2. I can’t think about [spoiler removed]. He was the first character which I liked in The Magician Trilogy.
Oh! I forgot…
I think that making the film isn’t good idea. It can break our impressions. And you know, that many interesting things could be cut from your books.
Hey Trudi,
I’d read all of your books several times, bought them all thus far, and cannot wait for The Rogue to be released in May 2011, no doubt it will be the highest priority on my wishlist.
I’d absolutely love the idea of the books being turned into a movie! J.K.Rowling movies have got better as technology improves and this would be a good time to get your wedge in there.
The adventure in your stories take my mind to great places in difficult times and they have helped me recognise reality from fantasy. For that, I thank you!
Look forward to reading more of your works!
Hello from Scotland!
Hayley
Hello from Catalonia!!!
I’m still reading the third part of the Black Magician trilogy (the spanish version of course…there’s no a catalan translation) and I have to complain!
First of all, it’s your fault if I can’t live without the Sonea’s adventures.
It’s your fault if I haven’t had time to do anything in the last two weekends
It’s your fault if I have the same feelings I had reading “The Lord of the Rings” when I was fifteen (and I’m 30!)
And finally. I’ve got a taxi ticket to you! It’s your fault that after I read the first part I had to run to the books store to buy the second and the third.
I want to continue complaining….so I’m going to get “The Traitor Spy” trilogy…
So, Congratulations!!
… you have a reader and a friend here in Barcelona!
(it was so sad to discover the real motivation why you started writing the trilogy…)
Hello,
Would just like to thank you for keeping my reading addiction alive, and for the
future adventures your pen will provide.
Thanks, from a fan from Queensland
Hello, I wanted to say that I just found my ideal image of Sonea for a film! It’s the girl with the short black hair from T.A.T.U in the video “Я сошла с ума”. She is perfect! I would so love to see a film and a girl like her playing Sonea!
First I want to thank you for writing such great books, Iv read black magician trilogi, the Apprentice and Ambassadors mission so far and looking forward to the continuation with that series. Meanwhile im gonna start reading the age of the five.
I have but one question, probably somebody asked this before, but I couldnt find it in the FAQ atleast and Iv tried to google it. So maybe somebody here knows the answer =)
I just got myself an e-book reader, but i have the bad luck (atleast regarding ebooks) to live in Sweden. When I was on amazon.com to buy Ambassadors mission (so i would have the whole new trilogy on my ipad) i noticed that you can only buy the ebook version in US. Basically im just curious if you know if their gonna be released as ebooks in the rest of the world, or is it up to the publisher (or whoever decides stuff like this) in each specifik country?
Best regards from a Sweden!
Hi Trudi,
Well I would have to admit that I am yet to complete one of your works, however I am currently reading The Magician’s Apprentice. I must say that I am thoroughly enjoying it. I am very glad to have the opportunity to praise you for your work. I am amazed at the feedback and love people from all over the word have for your writing. You must be elated and inspired to continue writing. I feel that I will eventually read all of your books and I look forward to the adventures that lay ahead!
Cheers
Hey Trudi,
I’m a big fan of your books, i’ve read the Black Magician Triology, The Magicians Apprentince, and The Ambassador’s Mission. Your probably my favourite author next to Matthew Riley. You books are so great, I cant stop reading. I finished the ambassadors mission in one day
Its good how you use third person and first person in your books, makes it feel like the book is more alive. This might be weird but im only 14 years old, and Im from WA Australia, I just love your books.
Great to see if the books were turned into the move, I think it would be fantastic ^.^
PS: When the Magicians cast their strikes, do they shoot them from their hands? Or frem their heads? Its always been a mystery to me…
Thanks!
Best Regards from WA!
Hi ,
i started with magicians apprentice and want to say that it is very well written.i want to know if the subplot of stara hold any importance in the other trilogies and this was actually linked to other books.
Have a wonderful Christmas Trudi. Wishing you and your family joy and peace for the coming year. Thanks so much for all the reading joy. Deb
I enjoy your books – I particularly appreciate the depth of history your settings carry. My wife is hooked too; I read the books to her to keep her company when she’s ironing: I chose the Black Magician to follow Neal Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon.
BTW, I reviewed Apprentice at http://anomalyreviews.blogspot.com/2010/10/magicians-apprentice-trudi-canavan.html
Hi Trudi,
I’m 12, I’m from Berlin, Germany and i’ve read all your books. They are very great and your writing style is beautiful! I’m looking forward to the next parts of the Traitor Spy Trilogy. I hope, they will coming soon in Germany. I also write stories very much and I hope, they will be as famous as your stories!
Greetings from Germany
Josephine
