I am reading your latest and greatest and enjoying it so much. Congrats on another wonderful addition to your books. I have all your books, so I don't want to buy another book if I come down for the book signing, so just checking I can bring my own copy to sign? If not I do understand!

I certainly won't mind signing it, but ultimately it's up to the bookstore and if you are worried it's best to call the store. When I'm in your situation I feel it's good manners to spend a little time in the store afterwards, even if I don't intend to buy anything. While the store didn't benefit from me buying the author's book, holding the signing did get me into the shop. Bookstores usually get in extra stock, set up a table and offer the author a drink - and sometimes put out a nice spread of nibblies and drinks for customers - so it's nice to acknowledge the effort by having a look around their shop.
I also don't mind signing earlier books, so long as there isn't a long queue. And if there's no queue I love to have a chat.
I have to read your press releases better. I got to Southland and could have gone straight up but thought I should buy a respectable shirt first. Of course since I thought you would be there till 2pm, I had plenty of time. Sigh!(Dymocks still got money from me so they didn't lose out in that respect)
