Sorry about the silence - I'm still sick. But here's the news I posted about:
I'm going to be at Anticipation!
Aside from a few days in New York prior to the convention and a quick stop in Hawaii to break the hideously long flight, I won't be visiting anywhere else. This isn't a tour, I'm afraid. It's going to be a holiday, and one I'll have definitely earned as I'm going to have to work extra hard to get The Ambassador's Mission delivered on time now I've lost so much time to the flu.
It's good to finally hear something from you. It's a pity that you are still sick. Maybe a little trick can help.
Cut on or two onions into stripes, put them into an empty jam jar and give about three big spoons of sugar to it. Then close the jar and put it into the fridge. About three hours later there will be some juice on the bottom of the jar. It smells pretty bad but drink one spoon of it and I can guarantee you that you will feel better. The only hitch about this is that you won't be able to be around a lot of people since you drank onion juice...Two sips a day should be enough.
I hope you have a great time in Hawaii, it's a place I always wanted to visit, but I think it will take some time´till I will actually be there.
I can't wait for the conclusion of "The black magician triology". I am reading "The novice" right now (again) since I have a language skill test in Universtiy next week and I always feel more prepared after reading your books.
Get better soon and enjoy Montréal as well.
I loved the opening paragraph in the first book, The Magicians Guild. It had me hooked immediately. First chapters are sooo hard and scary for the reasons you mentioned. But it is important to get them right.
One of my favourite opening lines was from the Hobbit; 'In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.'
I was nine years old the day our teacher read the opening chapter of The Hobbit, and I was immediately hooked. Wonderful stuff.
