Trudi Canavan

bestselling author of The Black Magician Trilogy

Brisbane, Here I Come!

I’m back from the writing retreat. We had a fabulous time and I reached the halfway point of the first draft of The Ambassador’s Mission. Now I have a few frantic days to catch up and prepare for the launch of The Magician’s Apprentice at the Aurealis Awards on Saturday.

It’s all getting very exciting! This morning I received the first report of a ‘sighting’ of The Magician’s Apprentice in a Melbourne bookstore. And yesterday the schedule for my Brisbane visit arrived. I’ll be signing books in these shops next Tuesday (the 27th):

9am                 Angus & Robertson Morayfield

Shop 62 Morayfield Shopping Centre

Morayfield QLD 4506

10:00am          Dymocks Chermside

So if you happen to be at one of these locations while I’m there, come up and say ‘hi’ and I’ll sign your books personally. (Or your autograph book. Or your bus ticket. Or your arm.) Otherwise, pop into the shops when you can for a signed copy of The Magician’s Apprentice. And probably as many other books of mine that I can sign in the time we’ve got.

Toury dates for Canberra and Sydney are now likely to occur in late February and early March. I’ll post ’em when I know ’em.

  1. I have read magicians apprentice now. I got it at a borders store in the UK. Trudi you started off good with BMT and got better with AoF and now you have up’d your game again with magicians apprentice. An outstanding book well done!!!!

  2. At the moment the only way to get signed copies is to order one (and you’ll need to be quick) from one of the bookshops above, or from Pulp Fiction in Brisbane. (But do remember that the version sold in Australia is in the paperback format.)
I will be signing books in Melbourne soon. Probably later this month some time. So far my tour of Canberra and Syndey is set to happen between the 2nd and 5th of March.

  3. Hey Trudi!
Congrats – much anticipated and very excited to get a hold of a copy so I will go hunting Melbourne bookstores (after the weather breaks though!)! Any signings in Melbourne, or does your hometown missout? 🙂

  4. How would a brit go about getting a signed copy of the new book? It’s my girlfriends birthday coming up and she really loves your books!

  5. I do have good news about a trip to Perth, which I’ll post about soon. Tours to the UK and US are under consideration, but may depend on timing (which book release to match them with) and, I imagine, the economic upheavals going on around the world which have had some impact on the publishing industry.
Getting to either destination from Australia involves such a long flight, that I would also like to include a) some of the countries where foreign language editions have been published, like France and Germany, and b) have a bit of a holiday (I suspect I’ll need it, as big publicity tours can be exhausting from what I’ve heard and read).

  6. So I was so close. It didn’t matter to me that you’re halfway around the world, or that I would have to miss up to 5 days of work, or that the cost of the trip was going to be almost a months salary. I was determined to go and have you sign all of my books, and get the new one. One thing, however, utterly slipped my mind while making arrangments for this trip. I don’t have a passport, and can therefore not go anywhere outside of my home country. I’ve applied for one now, but there is no way I can get it in time to go to your signings. I’m hoping to have it before your Sydney signings, unless by some small chance, you announce a tour through the United States. Anyways, I wish you luck in your signings, and can’t wait till I get my hands on your book.

  7. …and how about a visit to Perth? I’d love my newly purchased copy of Magician’s Apprentice signed!
    Have fun at Aurealis.

  8. Congrats on getting half way through the first draft.
I am so excited for the Magician’s Apprentice and I can’t wait for The Traitor Spy Trilogy.
I’m watching this space for a quick trip to the UK. Come one Trudi, you know you want to.
    Good luck with the launch!

  9. Yay I cannot wait for the first Traitor Spy Trilogy to come out!!!
Its a shame you only tour in Australia, I’m on the other side of the world in dreary old England! No its not that bad really. Any way loved your books, and hope one day you’ll come over to see us =]

  10. Hey Trudi, good luck with the book tour. I was just wondering if are going to come to the UK at all? That would be nice, I live in London and i’ve read all of your published books.
    Thanks, Ben.

  11. No signing near me, not to worry. Looking forward to reading your new book. I will let you know if it is any good *smiles*.
