bestselling author of The Black Magician Trilogy

Plans for 2011

I’ve noticed that a few other authors are posting about their plans for 2011 and I thought ‘I can do that!’. So here’s what I should/hope to be doing:

Authory Stuff:
Writing The Traitor Queen, book three of the Traitor Spy Trilogy (sequel to the Black Magician Trilogy for those who are new to my books)
Going on tour in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Poland (to coincide with The Rogue going on sale on the 5th May)
Finishing, polishing and editing The Traitor Queen
Bringing together ideas, writing a proposal for and selling the next series
Writing more short stories

Non-authory Stuff:
Honing my drawing/painting skills
Continuing making things and learning new skills
Reading more (or listen to audio books when my back is too stuffed for reading)
Walking more
Spending less time sitting at the computer making my back worse

Hmm. In general 2011 is going to be mostly about work and writing. I must try to squeeze in a few breaks here and there, but that’s never easy when there are deadlines and publicity work to tackle!

  1. Poland! Yes :D!!! but Warsaw? I arrive!

  2. What a great week my birthday week is this year! Not only does book two in the Traitor Spy Trilogy come out – I do love how you keep so true to your stories and characters and develop them so wholly. But, my daughter gets married two days later. And, the following day I have my 40th birthday (which is also Mother’s Day in the US) surrounded by my kids and step-kids and step-grandkids. I can’t think of a more wonderful week to look forward to.

Thank you so much for the hard work you put into your writing. You are one of the few authors (along with Patricia Briggs and Robin Hobb) that I enjoy so much and look so forward to reading that I literally put release dates on my calendar.

Enjoy your travels and enjoy your learning and growing. Isn’t it what makes life so very worth living?

  3. Great to hear that you intend to visit germany! Until now I never found someone interesting enough (link singers, actors etc.) to actually meet them in person. But you would be worth it. I hope I will have the time to come to the city you choose.
I hope you can keep on writing for some more years. I like your style, I like your worlds, and every character. I cried at the end of The High Lord, because I thought that this beautiful world can’t end right here. Thanks for giving us the Prequel and the Sequels. I’ve read all your other books too so far and I’m really excited to read your next one. Can’t wait to buy it!

  4. Imaginales in Epinal, France!!!!!!! It is the BEST! Great site right on a river, amazing food, and wonderful, wonderful readers! And the Magic Mirror pavilion where they do interviews and panels is an amazing venue. It’s going to be a blast!

So pleased to know I will see you there!

    • Hello,
I’m sorry if i’m intruding on someone else’s post but i don’t tend to go on people’s blogs.
after fighting with a way of contacting i chose this post to message as its the most apporiate. (really do appologise for my spelling)
i am messaging in hope to convince you to visit waterstones in preston, lancashire. i have never felt the need to meet someone before, i’ve never even been to a music gig because i cant think of anyone i want to pay money to see, but i would be interested in meeting you.
i am aware i am taking a shot in the dark writing this message, but a little hope can go along way, and its not killed me to write this message.
please if you do read this message take it into consideration what i am requesting, as i hope you do read this as you say you do read messages on here.
if i can work out another way to contact you i will. if you read this and choose not to visit, fair does.
      thanks for reading this message.
      nikola.
